At just shy of 100km from Innsbruck, visitors can be in Kitzbuhel in a little over an hour from the airport. And they should definitely make the trip, if only to see the town itself.
Kitzbuhel is about as Austrian as villages come. If you were asked to picture an Austrian skiing hamlet, you’d think of pitched-roof chalets layered with snow, wooden-clad houses, and hip-high drifts lining the streets. Throw in some old-fashioned streetlamps, lights strung between them, and steins clinking merrily in every bar and restaurant, and you’ve pretty much got Kitzbuhel.
Kitzbühel for Beginners:

Kitzbuhel has a lot of nursery and beginner slopes sitting above the town and has many winding blues with gentle inclines to accommodate those looking to hone their skills, rather than plunge down the daunting Streif — the home to the Hahnmemkamm, where skiers can reach upwards of 85mph if they so choose. Which we don’t…
Kitzbühel for Intermediates:

Intermediates will love the progression opportunities on offer and can take the 35km (22 mile) Ski Safari route (marked by the elephant symbol) if they feel inclined. If not, there are lots of blues, reds, blacks, and off-piste to discover. Enough to keep any progressing skier or boarder well entertained.
Kitzbühel for Experts:

Expert skiers will know the name Kitzbuhel even if they haven’t been before. With many runs primed and prepped for downhill racing, feeling the wind in your hair (or the holes in your helmet) isn’t a tall order. Or if it’s quintessential Austrian off-piste you’re after, you’ll find it easy to pop off the sides of runs and hunt some untouched powder. Kitzbuhel really is a resort that does both just as well as the other.
