Who is Deer Valley For?
Beginners
With over 70 kilometres of green runs, Deer Valley is an excellent place to learn to ski. The learning areas are spacious and separate from faster traffic, allowing newcomers to build confidence in a comfortable environment. The gentle, wide slopes of Wide West and other dedicated zones are perfect for mastering the basics.
Intermediates
Intermediate skiers are arguably the best catered for at Deer Valley. The 90 kilometres of blue runs provide an enormous playground of cruising terrain. Skiers can spend days exploring the long, rolling groomers that descend from the peaks of Flagstaff and Bald Mountain, enjoying stunning views and consistent conditions.
Advanced & Expert Skiers
While known for its groomers, Deer Valley has plenty to offer advanced skiers. The 40 kilometres of black-diamond terrain include the steep chutes and glades of Empire Canyon and the challenging mogul fields on Mayflower and Sultan. While it may not have the extreme backcountry access of some neighbours, the in-bounds expert terrain is varied and exciting.

Season & Snow Reliability
Located in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, Deer Valley benefits from the region’s famous light, dry powder snow. The typical ski season runs from early December through to mid-April. The resort’s high elevation, combined with one of the most extensive snowmaking systems in the country, ensures reliable snow cover across its many pistes throughout the winter, even during drier periods.
Practical Information for Visitors
One of the most important things to know before visiting is that Deer Valley is a skiers-only resort; snowboarding is not permitted. The resort is also highly accessible, located just a 45-minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). It is situated next to the town of Park City, offering easy access to more dining, shopping, and entertainment. To maintain an uncrowded feel, the resort limits the number of lift tickets sold each day. It is therefore essential to purchase passes well in advance, especially during peak periods. A single-day lift pass can cost in the region of €300, though prices fluctuate based on demand and the time of season.
