La Tania is the family-friendly hidden gem ski resort, sitting quietly between Courchevel and Méribel in the mighty 3 Valleys- the world's biggest linked ski area.  The town is one of ten beautiful hamlets that are dotted around the Courchevel villages, and was built specifically to house athletes and journalists for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics.  Despite being a new village, it was built in keeping with the Savoyard style, so it enjoys wooden chalets with pitched roofs and lots of stonework. You won’t find any concrete slabs here, unlike the other resorts further up the valleys.  It's pretty and good value to boot. What's not to like? Tucked away in the forest at 1350m, and with a wealth of tree-lined slopes above it, all serviced by a gondola, La Tania is a cracking option in bad weather. Two dedicated beginner areas at the top and bottom make La Tania an ideal place to learn to ski, with the long Plan Fontaine a superb first green to tackle thereafter. Connections to neighbouring Courchevel and Méribel are pretty speedy for those that fancy more mileage or more challenging skiing. The village itself is convenience incarnate, but not at the expense of charm. Almost all of the accommodation is in ski-in-ski-out wooden chalets or apartments and there are a few lively bars and if you're after a bit more of a party scene, Courchevel is just a lift-ride away. That said, those looking for something more lively will want to look at one of the larger towns or resorts in the Three Valleys - don’t expect any big clubs or ice bars in La Tania! Still, with lift access and pistes that link back to it, La Tania is well placed and remains a popular choice for those who want to soak up the Three Valleys skiing, but kick back in a quiet hamlet at the end of the day, free from the hecticness of what's happening after the lifts shut higher up.   La Tania highlights: A quiet hamlet-feel and scenic surroundings making La Tania a great choice for anyone who wants to ski Courchevel, but wants to stay somewhere a little quieter.   La Tania is best for: Those with a demand for world-class skiing, but who want to kick back in a quiet chalet or apartment at the end of the day with nothing to do but enjoy the company of the people you're with.

Ski and Snowboard Guide to La Tania:

As a part of the Three Valleys, Courchevel has wonderful skiing and a great infrastructure. There are no less than 6 beginner areas, and plenty more to do besides. But before you hit the slopes, you’ll have to decide whether to go for the Courchevel lift pass, or upgrade to the Three Valleys pass, which includes Meribel, Les Menuires, and the lofty Val Thorens.   If you have the Courchevel pass, you’ll be topping out at 2,740m, though there’s still lots to do here. The resort has a great mixture of tree-lined runs, open bowls, and high descents, as well as some great off-piste that’s just a short hike away.   You can cover a lot of ground using the lift network here, though nothing is really inaccessible. Beginners will love the long greens — specifically Praline accessible from the Ariondaz gondola, and Plan Fontaine off the La Tania gondola. These are just two of the many great runs suited to beginners, though.   Intermediates will have the run of the place, with a network of reds and blues to enjoy. Plenty of snowparks make it a playground, and the lifts — of which very few are drags — allow quick traversal of the entire area.   For those with bigger aspirations, heading higher is always the way to go, and technical descents are on offer from both the Saulire and the Vizelle gondola.     First-time and beginner skiers: There are beginner areas all over (look for the pink areas on your map), but two of the largest are located about Courchevel 1850, off the Cospillot and Bellecote lifts.   Intermediate skiers: Intermediates can explore the many parks and pistes on offer, and should take time to consider both the main area above Courchevel 1850, as well as the area above Courchevel-Moriond 1650. Each has its own charm and plenty of runs to offer.   Expert skiers: Experts will head for high ground and fall in love with the Freeride Lab area which can be accessed by hiking off the back of the Saulire gondola. Just follow the signs. Otherwise, there are some great reds and blacks which sweep you down the valley from there, too.

Children’s Group Ski Lessons La Tania

From a three-year-old’s the first steps on snow in the children’s snow garden to teenagers confidently crushing black runs and getting in to the snowpark you’ll find ski lessons for children of all ages and ability in La Tania (which can come in handy when you suddenly realise your kids have become better skiers than you!).  We’re probably (more than) a bit biased but at SkiBro we think that properly laying the foundation for a lifetime on the slopes - free of bad habits - is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give their children. SkiBro’s partner ski schools and instructors are all fully certified and have years of experience providing kids’ ski lessons that focus not only on technical instruction but also fun and safety.   Children’s ski lessons tend to book up very quickly during peak school holiday periods like half-term and christmas break, so make sure to book early during these times to avoid disappointment.

Adult Group Ski Lessons La Tania

Did you know that nearly a third of all group ski lessons are beginner adult group lessons? It sounds surprising but group ski lessons are a great way to learn to ski; surrounded by other people of a similar age and ability level who are also trying something new. Group lessons are also great for progressing from a beginner skier to a more independent intermediate.  With quality coaching for a few hours each day you can spend your mornings working on your technique before grabbing a bite to eat and explore everything the mountain has to offer with your friends and family in the afternoons.

Private Ski Lessons La Tania

Private instruction is just that – a ski instructor solely devoted to you (and any friends or family you choose to invite) for a given period of time.  These lessons are offered both by formal ski and snowboard schools as well as by freelance instructors – certified independent instructors working for themselves or in loose collectives.   A private ski instructor in La Tania can offer you a level of flexibility and individual attention beyond what group lessons can.  For some people one short, intensive, session with a private instructor will teach them more than they’d get from a full week of group lessons.    For many people, however, the inverse would be true and the repetition and additional practice in group lessons is invaluable.

Off-Piste Guiding La Tania

Considered by those who get into it as skiing in its purest (and most fun!) form, freeride (also known as off piste or backcountry) skiing is the pursuit of skiing all over the mountain, unrestricted by the edge of the piste in a variety of snow conditions.  A good day’s freeride skiing might involve long descents down wide open mountain faces, steep couloirs and adventures through the trees, far away from the crowded pistes. In addition to private ski instructors and mountain guides you can sometimes find camps and courses designed to give upper-intermediate skiers their first taste of off-piste delights in La Tania. Be careful though, the white powder can be quite addictive.

Snowboard Lessons La Tania

From ‘never-evers’ to semi-pros you’ll find a snowboard lesson in La Tania designed to take you riding to the next level.  If you’re thinking small, think big. And if you’re thinking big- think bigger! If you’re new to a resort or even if you’re returning to an old favourite, a top snowboard instructor or group snowboard lessons will help you unlock local secrets of the area that you’ll wish you knew about years ago! Flatland tricks, jibbing, carving trenches, slaying powder – stop being a slave to your snowboard and learn to master it!
